Liege Lord - Master Control

Liege Lord's third and final album here, 'Master Control', featured here in its first official repress from 1997 on Metal Blade. Pretty much unanimously agreed that this album contains some of their finest works, with it's soaring power metal and great speed metal riffage running throughout. There's an absolute TON of bootlegs of this album, so if you're on the lookout for one, be very vigilant to avoid those.

Limbonic Art - Volume I-IV (Box Set)

This is the boxed set version of the first four albums from Norwegian Symphonic Black Metal band Limbonic Art. Featuring 'Moon In Scorpio', 'In Abhorrence Dementia', 'Epitome of Illusions' and 'Ad Noctem - Dynasty of Death', this covers the majority of their strongest works in my opinion. This comes as pictured with a nice extended booklet and band bio. Some may find the overt syphonia and synth work too much (and admittedly, there is a lot of it), but there's just enough spite & bite to keep me returning. Limited to 5000 copies.

Loudblast - Original Album Classics

A bit of a strange set here, these Original Album Classic's series are usually a great way for major labels to cobble together classic artists albums in one bare bones set at a discount price, not really for putting together excellently obscure death/thrash bands albums like this. Anyhow, this was released by XIII Bis Records, the same label that released the bands more recent albums (I guess they had a license to release their earlier/out of print stuff). However, I'd like to have thought they'd have done a decent box set of these albums with extended booklets and write ups/reviews, exclusive photos etc, but instead they went down the budget route. Each album is in a cardboard slipcase, housed inside the main card case - no booklets or anything more. A shame, as the material on offer deserved much more.

Lunacy ‎– Face No More

The debut album of the Swiss thrash obscurity that is Lunacy here, on Magic Records/1MF. Decent US styled thrash, with a nicely rabid guitar tone with enough chunk to see em through. Unfortunately for them, they were one of those bands who got swept away by the wave of Death metal that was everywhere by the time this was released (1991). Always nice to unearth some thrash from the 90s which doesn't completely suck though! Worth a look!

Living Death - Vengeance of Hell / Metal Revolution

The first two albums from German speed/thrashers Living Death. Their debut 'Vengeance of Hell' is the first CD pressing on Mausoleum Records Classix, and the 'Metal Revolution' is on ABS Classics. Decent thrash from the early/mid 80s (84 & 85 respectively), will bring a tear to the eyes of any old fogies like myself which miss the simpler days.

Lunar Aurora - Weltengänger / Seelenfeuer / Of Stargates and Bloodstained Celestial Spheres

The first three albums of the sublime Lunar Aurora, in original pressings (on Voices Productions, Voices Productions and Kettenhund Records respectively). Black metal brilliance right here, in fact there's so much quality in all of this bands releases really, but I'm just singling these out as they're the least easy to find in their original pressings (particularly their third album 'Of Stargates...'). Snap these up a.s.a.p if you find them.

Liar - Cheatin' Games

The second album from Germans Liar here on TRL records - long forgotten and long out of print. Liar had a very recognisable sound, pretty catchy with touches of power metal mixed into their thrashy/speed punch. Worth a look for fans of early Savatage & Testament.

Lykathea Aflame - Elvenefris

The amazing Czechs Lykathea Aflame here, with their only album 'Elvenefris'. I'd love to try to describe these guys in detail, but you'd really need to hear their stuff yourself to full appreciate and understand their style. Death metal, progressive, technical, brutal, melodic, ethnic influences - it has touches of everything you could ask for. An original pressing on Obscene Productions - this was given a re-issue as a double disc edition not so long ago.

Living Death - Living Death

German's Living Death made quite the name for themselves in the underground thrash/speed scene in the late 80s. This 2 disc compilation brings together their finest pieces of work, which were between 86-88. Featuring EP 'Back To The Weapons', 3rd album 'Protected From Reality', 4th album (and best, in my opinion) 'Worlds Neuroses' and their 1988 live EP this is packed with killer without much in the way filler (well, I guess the live tracks are the worst 'filler' offenders, but then I've never been a fan of live recordings, give or take a handful exceptions). An original pressing on Aaarrg Records from 1994.

Loudblast - Disincarnate / Sublime Dementia / Cross The Threshold

Some early albums from the French death/thrashers Loudblast here. Their very early stuff was pretty much pure thrash, but I much prefer their sound from Disincarnate onwards, especially the melodious death/thrash of Sublime Dementia (my personal favourite of their releases). Releases on Semetary, Noise Records & Semetary respectively. The band also released an 'Original Album Classics' 5 album boxset in 2009 featuring these albums, as well as the two releases preceding them. I also own that, but that is still in print so isn't featured here.

Lemming Project - Extinction

Much like bands such as 'Demented Ted', I always felt that if these guys didn't have such a horrible name more people would be interested in taking note of their music. I quite enjoy this album from time to time, and think it's definitely a step above their lackluster sophomore album. Good, solid, dirty early 90s death metal from Germany. What's not to love? Ignore the name, and check them out - you won't regret it. An original pressing on Noise Records.

Lunatic Invasion - Totentanz

Lunatic Invasion's 2nd (and final) album here, on Invasion Records (drummer Maja Majewski ran the label). As an album it's not going to make you go crazy with enthusiasm, but it's a good solid death metal CD - nothing more, nothing less.

Lawnmower Deth - Ooh Crikey It's... Lawnmower Deth

Bat shit crazy as most will know, this is Lawnmower Deth's debut album, in an original pressing on Earache Records from 1990. The band never tried to be a chin-stroking, epic thrash band - they were all about the laughs and the fun, and that shines through on this album more than any of their other releases. Great, for what it is.

Leukemia - Suck My Heaven / Grey-Flannel Souled

The first and second albums of Leukemia. Great Swedish grooving death metal on Black Mark, and Step One Records respectively. Debut wins on the enjoyability scale, as on the 2nd release I feel they lost it a bit (I mean, come on, it's called 'Grey-Flannel Souled' for fuck sake).

Lubricant - Nookleptia

This E.P released by Morbid Records in 1993 is a strange work of Death Metal. Nothing I know sounds like this. Check out the cover art, what is THAT all about? What's he waiting for? Did he just wash up there while out for a swim? Where the fuck are his clothes? Was it a stag do prank gone wrong? Weird shit.

Lobotomy - Lobotomy

Sweet Swedish death metal (as if you'd expect anything else!). Debut album in it's original form on Chaos Records.

Lord Belial - Kiss the Goat

The debut album of these now defunct Swedish black metal merchants, released on No Fashion Records in 1995.

Luciferion - Demonication (The Manifest)

Ahh, the mighty Luciferion's debut cut is a mighty piece of death metal glory. Are you a big fan of early Deicide, but feel their later material just doesn't have the same edge for you? Check this shit spewing hate machine out. I'd say that it's like Deicide - Legion's little brother, but that would be talking it down to much, and I don't want to do it such an injustice. A prime piece of early 90's death metal. I own the original Listenable Records pressing (the only pressing, if I'm correct).
