Brain Drill - Boundless Obscenity


The most recent (2016) release from US brutal/tech death crew Brain Drill. I only really dabble in this genre (Unique Leader is generally reliable, but a lot of it falls flat to my ears). When I find a band who has a hook or some meaty riffage rather than just relentless technical displays of guitar theatrics, I'll usually buy into it. Well, with Brain Drill, their riffs are practically solos - so I should pretty much hate this - haha! Well, I do love a ripping solo, and this album is pretty much choc full of glass splintering riffs, sparkling light speed passages and ridiculous technical proficiency. I usually hate a lot of this shit, but Brain Drill has always just worked for me. Self released.
